Description | The Callaway nuclear power plant near Fulton, Missouri, originally built in the late 1970s with one reactor operational since 1984, is planned for expansion to add additional nuclear power capacity. The site was initially designed for two reactors, but the second was never built. Due to increasing energy demand, there is a push to build new nuclear reactors, including potentially adding a new reactor near the existing plant. The project aims to add 1,500 megawatts of atomic energy to Ameren Missouri's portfolio by 2045, supported by a new state task force and federal funding opportunities. |
