Calm Waters Mi’kmaw Park Development Phase 2

The project consists of completing existing developments to the pond area in Flat Bay Band Inc. The major project works include: - Clearing vegetation for 12 Wigwam tenting sites and constructing tenting platforms; - Completion of 2.3 kilometer walking trail leading to powwow grounds; - Paving approximately 31,300 square feet for parking; - Seeding of a recreational/multi-purpose field; - Complete interior finishes, electricity and fixtures of lavatories and installation of septic system; and, - Complete interior finishes and electricity for the entertainment/multi-purpose shelter. By fully developing the site, the project will result in a safer and better-utilized area for the community and the Flat Bay Band. Furthermore, St. George’s is an area of rich Mi’kmaq history. By improving the park, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about Mi’kmaq heritage and the First Nations of Newfoundland and Labrador.
