The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is considering a high-speed bus system that could travel between San Francisco and Los Angeles at speeds up to 140 mph. The proposal aims to provide an alternative to high-speed rail and address California's traffic issues by operating buses on dedicated lanes along state freeways, potentially cutting travel time to as little as three hours.
