Cameroon - Numba-Bachuo Akagbe Road Development Project

The Numba-Bachuo Akagbe Road Development Project was designed to contribute to the strengthening of the country's transport infrastructure. Through the reduction of transport costs, the project meets the expectations of the population who had great difficulty in transporting their products to the consumption centres. In this way, it is a strategic lever in the process of reducing poverty at the household level. The Numba - Bachuo Akagbe road should contribute to extending the length of paved roads in good condition by 52 km. However, despite the increase in the length of paved roads in good condition brought about by the Numba-Bachuo Akagbe project, the measures taken to mitigate the main risks of the project and ensure sustainability have not been effective. The project has two (02) main components, namely: (A) the development of the road with a 7.00 m wide pavement and 1.5 m shoulders on each side, over a length of 50 km, including actions and measures to mitigate negative impacts on the environment, sensitization of the populations and control and monitoring of the works (B) related developments including the development of about 135 km of related tracks, the development of markets, the construction of a women's centre, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of classrooms, the construction of youth centres, the construction of boreholes for water supply, the equipping of women's groups with small agricultural processing equipment and training in their management, and the control and monitoring of these works.
