Description

The present intervention relates to the Tcheboa Biological Interest Area (ZIB) Rehabilitation and Management Project. This project aims to promote sustainable management of the Tchéboa ZIB, which guarantees the conservation of biodiversity and the well-being of the population. More specifically, it aims to (i) reforest about 1000 hectares with 50,000 plants in multipurpose spaces as well as spaces for wildlife conservation, (ii) strengthen the organizational, operational and managerial capacities of the organizations community-based organizations (CBOs), (iii) promote alternative poaching and income-generating activities, (iv) promote the use of improved stoves, (v) develop and implement a multi-stakeholder management plan for the ZIB and (vi) negotiate co-management of the ZIB with organized local populations. In the long term, the project should strengthen the institutional capacities of the Garoua School of Fauna.
