Camofoil 2.0 - Advanced material for disruptive approach to signature management

Current camouflaging and heat signature management systems are static and expensive with limited compliance to dynamic warfare and limited technological scalability potential. These solutions are not on-field adaptable, and the enabling technology does not accommodate rapid reengineering and field reapplication to comply with high pace technology-turnover-rate within sensor systems and their AI assisted pattern recognition software. In this project the consortium intent to develop, test and demonstrate a platform agnostic, visual, thermal and radar camouflaging solution: a new more dynamic approach to camouflaging. A disposable foil for multispectral signature management applicable for armored vehicles and beyond, based on an enabling technology that renders it upgradeable to keep up with technology advancement speeds and remain unrecognized by emerging sensor threats and AIs. Camofoil 2.0 is a disposable signature management system, protecting against recognition across the electromagnetic spectrum from UV to Radar. The foil can be supplied in any colour or camouflage pattern. It may be applied as stickers or tape and cut into shape to fit any surface or object and installed, repaired and replaced on-site and on demand, as a stand-alone or supplementing solution, for any platform and across domain, and, based on the technological scalability potential and low-cost, with an inherent ease of upgrade. The proposed action will significantly contribute to the competitiveness of the partners and strengthen the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base autonomy, security of supply and reduce The European Union’s Third-country dependency. The proposed solution is well in line with EUs Capability Priorities in being an advanced material for both ground combat systems, but not restricted to this; cross-domain applicable supporting harmonization of capabilities; is modular and updatable as a dynamic, disruptive and futureproof approach to signature man.
