Description

Description

This project consists of replacing aging city watermains, sanitary mains and stormwater mains along Adam Street and Dufferin Street in the City of Campbellton, New Brunswick. This project will: - Upgrade 308 metres of watermains made of old cast iron pipe. The existing pipes are corroding inside and are partially blocked from iron, sediments and other deposits - which has led to several water breaks, a lack of water pressure and discoloration. - Upgrade 120 metres of sanitary sewers that are made of terra cotta clay pipe. The existing pipe is collapsing in several sections, and presents risks of potential sewer back-up in homes as well as soil contamination due to sewage exfiltration. - Installation of 10m of sanitary sewers from the fire station to the existing sewer system at the corner of Adam and Roseberry. The purpose is the fire station drain was initially connected to the City storm sewer but has collapsed. - Separate the sanitary sewers by constructing 370 metres of new dedicated storm sewers. As result of the existing combined sewers, high precipitation and spring run-off has led to overloading at the wastewater treatment plant. - Reinstate 0.37 km of affected roadway, curb and sidewalk. - Installation of 10m of sanitary sewers from the fire station to the existing sewer system at the corner of Adam and Roseberry. The purpose is the fire station drain was initially connected to the City storm sewer but has collapsed. This project aims to upgrade the critical, aging infrastructure in order to ensure the City of Campbellton has continued access to quality potable water, an increased capacity to treat and manage wastewater and storm water, and reliable effluent quality.
