Description	TransAlta was awarded the contract to build, own and operate the 250-MW combined-cycle diesel and gas fueled power plant in Apr. 2000. The facilityruns on gas supplied by Pemex and delivered via the Mayakan pipeline. The concession contract has a 28-year duration: a 3-year construction period and a 25-year power-purchase agreement. The TransAlta Corp. owns 100% of the project company shares. Financial closure was achieved in Sep. 2000 with a US$ 133.6 million project finance facility syndicated by Bank of America Securities and the Canadian Society for Export Expansion. The financial arrangements also included a US$ 122 million in political risk insurance. The financing has a 16-year term maturing in Sep. 2016, with TransAlta Corp. providing a completion guarantee and EDC arranging a political risk insurance. Construction works are scheduled to begin in the end of 2000 and commercial operations started in June 2003.
