Canada Critical Minerals Mining Expansion

Planned

Canada's new government plans to invest more in mining to address challenges related to China's export restrictions on rare earth minerals. The initiative aims to advance the ability to get big mining projects done, focusing on critical minerals with key projects in Quebec and Labrador. The process of mining approvals in Canada is complex and slow, involving multiple levels of government and discussions on environment, indigenous rights, and workers' safety. The government is also fast-tracking development of critical minerals reserves despite indigenous opposition to generate revenue in response to US tariffs.
