Canada Games 2023 Eastlink Trade Centre Upgrades

The project consists of upgrades to the multipurpose Trade Centre facility located in the Eastlink Centre, to accommodate the sport hosting standards for the squash and archery events during the Canada Winter Games in 2023. All required project components will be completed within the Trade Centre space and will include the addition of accessible washroom/changing facilities and the renovation of existing washroom facilities, renovation of existing conference space, ceiling renewal within the Trade Centre, upgrades to the existing installed sound system within the Trade Centre and installation of a fixed LED wayfinding and information display. The new accessible washroom/changing facilities would be approximately 1,000 ft2 while the existing washroom renovations would be 200 ft2. The conference space renovation would be approximately 1,000 ft2, while the ceiling renewal would be done to the 40,000 ft2 area in the Trade Centre. The project is required to meet the Canada Games hosting standards and to upgrade the Trade Centre facility amenities to match the industry standard for large event hosting which will be a benefit to hosting the 2023 Canada Games and future events. The upgrades will be to the direct benefit of the residents as this facility essentially functions as a large community space and is used by many not-for-profit groups when hosting events/fundraisers, community groups that use the space for community leagues such as pickleball or flyball dog racing for example, and improve the functionality of the facility when used as fairgrounds during the local summer fair.
