Canada Projects of National Interest Fast-Track Initiative

Planned

The Canadian government will identify and fast-track Projects of National Interest with decisions coming in two years for all projects. This will be managed through a Major Federal Projects Office providing a single window for permits, consolidating processes previously scattered across departments. The initiative aims to reduce red tape, increase certainty, and improve outcomes for energy projects including hydrogen, geothermal, advanced biofuels, renewables, and nuclear. Additionally, the government plans to invest in integrated electricity grids to enhance east-west transmission and system integration across provinces and territories.
