Description | Dominion Energy and Santee Cooper have proposed plans to construct a natural gas-powered energy plant in the Canadys area of Colleton County, South Carolina, on the banks of the Edisto River. The project includes the construction of a 70-plus mile underground natural gas pipeline through Hampton and Colleton counties, contracted to Elba Express Company, LLC (EEC), a Kinder Morgan company. The plant is expected to be operational by 2030 with an estimated cost of $2.5 billion, although some estimates exceed this amount.
