The Canal Flats Dike Upgrade Design and Construction project includes upgrading the existing flood protection dike at the Village of Canal Flats to achieve the updated flood construction level with consideration to climate change. The current dike structure protects the community to approximately the 1-in-20 year flood level and the upgraded structure will provide protection to the 1-in-200 year flood level with consideration to climate change. The total project area is 9,000 m2 with the majority of that area being the existing dike surface. The dike protects key infrastructure including the water system, sanitary collection system, power and telecommunications, administration building, school, and additional community infrastructure.
