Description | The Cantemir–Fălciu railway section, which had been derelict for decades, was rehabilitated and modernized to reopen a railway border crossing point between the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The project involved the complete rehabilitation of about 4 kilometers of railway line on Moldovan territory and approximately 60 kilometers on the Romanian side, including repairs to the bridge over the Prut river and border stations. The line was adapted for mixed gauge to allow direct connection to Romania's railway network, facilitating freight transport and potentially passenger traffic, linking the Port of Constanța with Moldova and providing transit to Ukraine. |
