Description | The Canton Village redevelopment project involves a large-scale redevelopment of the Canton Village shopping center along Albany Turnpike. The plan includes several new buildings such as a quick-service coffee shop, additional retail and restaurant space, and two three-story mixed-use buildings containing apartments above commercial space. The project also features expanded green space, outdoor gathering areas, sidewalks, bicycle racks, landscaped buffers, benches, updated street lighting, a central landscaped boulevard-style entrance, and a pocket park area between the mixed-use buildings. Loading docks and dumpster areas will be located behind buildings to reduce visibility, and an existing wetland corridor will remain undisturbed. The project requires modifications to the town's regulating plan, including parking setback standards, and is currently in the pre-application review phase with plans to submit a formal application after incorporating feedback. |
