Capacity building in Micro Data Linking

Project aims at long-term capacity building in Micro Data Linking. Micro data linking (MDL) provides an opportunity to develop new statistics and indicators, and to discover new information. Statistics Finland, together with the Nordic NSI’s, has a long experience in utilizing MDL. Building up on existing knowledge, this project will further develop the MDL methodologies and infrastructure to allow for more flexible and efficient use of MDL. As a use case, the project will utilize enterprise subsidy data and create new statistical outputs and analysis on the effect of enterprise subsidies. The experiences gained from this project will feed into the future development of utilizing MDL as a method for future statistics on emerging topics and especially on the linking of statistical and administrative sources in order to swiftly produce statistics on issue of high policy relevance, even sudden and unexpected topics such as a Covid-19 crisis.
