Description
Description | "There is a global consensus the Blue Economy has the potential to deliver growth and jobs in the coming years and can be a driver of sustainable socio-economic development. São Tomé e Principe (STP) subscribes to this thesis and identified the Blue Economy, more specifically the port/maritime and fisheries domain, as one with great economic potential and social importance, but with several needs and gaps in terms of skills, competence, quality, health & safety, security, learning infrastructures, etc… This context is the principal catalyst for CBM-VET action with STP VET providers that have concerns in matters related to the port/maritime and fisheries sectors. Based on 4 pillars, namely Skills / Competence Alignment, VET Capacitation, Digital and Green Skills, Cooperation & Network, 5 specific objectives (deliver improved excellence capacity and resources; enhance strategic networking activities; raise the reputation, and attractiveness of local VET and its staff; strengthen the training management capacities and administrative staff skills; improve local VET training capacities) CMV-VET expects, in the long term, to contribute to tackling societal, technological, and economic challenges in São Tomé e Principe. In the short/medium term, through an e-platform to facilitate cooperation, for training and distance learning opportunities and to share developed materials, short term staff visits, joint frameworks for training programmes and establishing a best practices culture, among other activities, CBM VET aims to endow STP VET community, represented in this call by Marapa and Decel, with skills, knowledge, competences and tools in order to carry out their function with quality standards, matching the learners, industry and policymakers/regulation needs and with improved cooperation with other regions. CBM-VET will have a direct impact on the mentioned organisations (trainers, staff...), but also expected repercussions in a large number of fishermen and ""paliês""." |
