Description | Northern Luzon UPC Asia Corporation (UPC) was planning the development of the 80MW Caparispisan and Balaoi wind farms, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Luzon. The project was to consist of 40 turbines of 2.0MW each, connected to the grid via a 62km 115kV transmission line to the NGCP substation in Laoag City. Annual output was estimated at 243,424 MWh. Turbines used were the Vestas V80 2MW, with a lifespan of 20 years. Commissioning was expected for March 2012. Electricity price was 4.66 PHP per kWh (INEC rates), expected to increase to 9.35 PHP/kWh (UPC). Debt to equity ratio was 70/30. Total investment was $236.5 million.
