Cape Verde - Household expenditure and income survey

The Household Expenditure and Income Survey Project-2014 in Cabo Verde intends to produce recent and reliable data on poverty, social inequality and food insecurity indicators and MDG indicators and to complete information on the MDGs in Cabo Verde, to assess progress made between 2007 and 2015 and to propose potential solutions and actions. The main activities of the project includes: (i) the implementation of statistical activities related to completing the 2013/2014 Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES), one of the major outcomes of which is the provision of reliable and up-to-date data, particularly on the MDGs; and (ii) the subsequent preparation of the poverty profile with a view to informing the government's strategic decisions in targeting appropriate measures aimed at achieving inclusive growth. The report should present in a fairly clear manner the different aspects and determinants of poverty in Cabo Verde using a gender-based approach. The project calls for producing a gender-sensitive poverty profile report and poverty mapping at a fairly detailed administrative level.
