Cape Verde - New Praia Airport Construction Project

The New Praia Airport Construction Project is designed due to the inadequacy of the airport's current infrastructure capacity and equipment condition. Indeed, this situation constitutes a real obstacle to the development of the southern part of the country, which includes the islands of Santiago, Fogo, Brava and Maio. The construction of this airport in Praia, which is sized to the standards of a medium-carrier aircraft, should remove the current constraints on traffic handling and contribute effectively to the development of the country's southern region. The project consists of the following four components: A) construction of movement areas, a passenger terminal, a control tower and a technical block, freight and post buildings, a hangar and various networks; B) supply and installation of equipment for the terminal, the control tower and the technical block, freight and post buildings, the power plant, the VOR/DME and computer equipment; C) control and supervision of work and (D) studies and training.
