Description

Description

The preparation of the Surface Water Mobilisation and Reinforcement of the Integrated Water Resources Management Framework Project (MES/RC-GIRE) mainly consists of the preparation of a maximum of five multi-purpose hydraulic development projects and the reinforcement of the framework for their sustainable viability. Specifically, this involves : 1) carrying out a detailed study aimed at developing surface waters with appropriate hydraulic schemes; 2) proposing development options for sites not selected for ODA studies; 3) strengthening national capacities in terms of monitoring water resources and managing and operating hydro-agricultural schemes; 4) strengthening the legal environment for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) by reviewing the water law and drafting implementing regulations. This assistance was designed to improve living conditions for the population by mobilising surface water for domestic and agricultural use. The total duration of the project was 22 months and the estimated total cost was €1,559,000 excluding tax.
