Cape Verde - Small-scale fishing development project

The Artisanal Fisheries Development Project was designed because of the many constraints encountered in the fishing sub-sector. It consists of: the granting of a credit line for the purchase of fishing equipment, improved boats and engines, the construction of buildings, the purchase of equipment and vehicles, the construction of a local staff cold store. The project is expected to provide fishers with fishing equipment, improved boats and outboard engines in the form of a line of credit. This should contribute to a better development of the communities concerned. The project has several components, namely: (A) credit component for: (1) fishing equipment, (2) fleet improvement, (3) outboard engines; (B) construction of buildings and infrastructure; (C) provision of equipment and vehicles; (D) construction and equipment of a cold store; (E) local staff forecast; (F) expatriate staff forecast; (G) UNDP assistance; and (H) maintenance and operational forecast.
