Capitol Power Plant Tunnel Restoration and R Tunnel Repair

The Architect of the Capitol is seeking bidders to carry out the Capitol Power Plant Tunnel restoration and R Tunnel repair project at the intersection of Second Street and Constitution Avenue NE. The work requires an underground survey and relocations of existing utilities within the R Tunnel, followed by open excavation and at-grade construction activities as well as temporarily supporting existing structures, utilities and adjacent structures to provide a new tunnel expansion and structural steel liner to the R Tunnel section. It also entails rerouting of the chilled-water line and high-pressure steam condensate lines via the new tunnel expansion.
