Today, the ranch is used for production of certified organic hay and as pasture for 60-80 replacement dairy heifers. The herd is rotated through the six major fields on the property, including a one-time seasonal rotation through the silage fields, post-harvest. In addition, the ranch promotes agritourism by renting the historical home. Landowner goals include: continuing the family legacy; following environmentally sensitive management practices to promote sustainable organic agriculture in a carbon farming framework; and, maintaining or increasing agricultural productivity and carbon sequestration. |
