Description | A permanent pollinator cover crop will be established in 1 to 10 acres in a vineyard under no-till . The cover crop seed mix to be used will contain 14 California native species and be seeded at a rate of 15/25 lbs/acre. To aid in the establishment of the permanent cover crop, compost will be applied at a rate of 8 tons/acre. It is expected that by supplying the soil with compost, by preventing soil disturbance, and by allowing the cover crop to go to seed every year before termination, a self-reseeding, permanent pollinator cover crop will be established in vineyard middles. This is expected to increase habitat for pollinators and beneficial insects during winter and early spring. |
