Description
Description | The project COR - Care Of Rights: European Volunteers in Action for Human rights Promotion and Protection in Latin America is submitted by a consortium of 2 European organizations (1 Italian, 1 French) and 7 Latin American organizations (3 Peruvians, 3 Bolivians, 1 Guatemalan). The initiative promotes the sending of 19 young European citizens, in humanitarian emergency contexts and draws attention to the issue of human rights. The collaboration between volunteers during activities can contribute to improving the living conditions of local communities characterised by urgent economic, material, cultural and social needs and on the other hand they can acquire new personal skills and abilities, which are fundamental in their growth as active European citizens. More specifically, COR will deal with the following areas of operation: i) Action for the defence and promotion of human rights, protection of women from violence, gender equity, participation in democratic life, protection of the rights of persons with lesser capacities in the Amazonian communities ii) Preparation and management of training courses for beneficiaries in order to strengthen their schooling, prevent them from dropping out, and promote their social inclusion iii) Fighting poverty and hunger through a tried and tested system of community canteens. The project fully responds to the EU Youth Strategy: Mobilise because it offers opportunities for civic, economic, social, cultural and political participation in international contexts and in situations of need; Connecting as it provides opportunities for exchange, cooperation and civic and Empowering as it offers to volunteers the opportunity to be involved in socio-educational actions that will enable them to grow as integral human beings. Concerning inclusion and diversity the project offers the possibility to send 8 volunteers with fewer opportunities, characterised by economic obstacles, geographical obstacles, discrimination or cultural differences. |
