Description
Description | Solidarity, social inclusion and environmental protection are the pillars on which the European Union is built. At the heart is the idea of caring - a deep concern for the well-being of society and the environment. The concept of solidarity emphasises the importance of support for those who are marginalised and vulnerable. By emphasising these values, the project, implemented in three different EU countries - Slovenia, Spain and Cyprus, aims to instil a deep sense of care and commitment in the younger generation, thus raising a generation of actively engaged EU citizens. The main objective is to enable young people to express their views and practises of social solidarity and care for the environment and to engage them together with CSOs, experts and representatives of local and national authorities to strengthen existing mechanisms, practises and policies of solidarity and care and to develop new ones, mainly at local but also at national and European level. The main events of the project will be local deliberative events (Youth deliberative citizens panels) which will be youth-driven in their content and objectives. To this end, a knowledge base will be built up in advance of the events by organising focus groups and interviews with young people, experts and civil society organisations. Young people's voice will also be obtained and promoted through surveys in all three countries. The strength of the project is that it is goal-oriented. The deliberative events will lead to the development of policy proposals and action plans that are a sustainable endeavour for which young people, together with other stakeholders, are truly committed and bring about lasting change in terms of inclusion of marginalised groups and environmental protection. In total, 960 young people, 220 representatives of (youth) NGOs, 45 experts, 65 representatives of local and national authorities will participate in the events and other project activities. We expect to reach 1290 people. |
