Description
Description | The project CarMiA addresses the second scope of the call on ‘masculinities and the engagement of men and boys to prevent gender-based violence’ by promoting the concept of ‘caring masculinity’ as an alternative, violence-free model of masculinity in boys’ identity formation. Based on the evidence of research in the field of masculinities studies, the general objective of the project is to trigger a change in the attitude of men and boys with respect to the dominant models of masculinity in order to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) in the countries involved (IT, DE, AUT, ES, SLO and BG). The specific objectives of the project are: - to enhance the knowledge and capacity building of teachers, educators and other professionals in the prevention of GBV and on nonviolent forms of masculinities - to foster mutual learning among the partners on innovative and participatory methodologies to work with young people - to promote prevention of GBV and care-oriented concepts of masculinities through peer to peer and agents of change activities and through an awareness raising campaign addressed to young people. Based on the results of the needs assessment with practitioners, the project will provide a training with (240) professionals and (60) young adults who in turn will act as agents of change through peer to peer activities in schools, youth and sport clubs and other institutions involving 480 children/young people. The results of the training will be summarized in a training package that will be disseminated through the project communication channels (900 people reached). Finally, an awareness raising campaign about harmful social norms of masculinity will be carried out. Target groups of the project are children and young adults who will act as change agents as well as adults – teachers and other professionals. Target groups will be reached via different channels and events – project website, social media, awareness raising campaign -involving 6,000 people. |
