The Carpenters Estate, located in Stratford, currently consists of 710 properties, comprising of three tower blocks and some low rise properties. The council’s proposal includes significantly increasing the number of homes on the estate to approximately 3,000 with at least 1,000 of these affordable. The scheme includes improving the public realm community and open space; connecting surrounding areas including access to Stratford Station; reproviding and expanding Carpenters Primary School; developing an improved Building Crafts College; reproviding new community leisure and health facilities; and delivering commercial space (business, retail and hospitality etc.) to attract commercial and employment opportunities to the area.
