Cascade Advanced Energy Facility

The Cascade Advanced Energy Facility is a new advanced small modular nuclear reactor project planned near the Tri-Cities area in Washington. It will be located on unused Hanford nuclear site land leased from the federal government, about 10 miles north of Richland near Energy Northwest’s Columbia Generating Station. The project aims to produce nuclear power with an initial four modules generating 320 megawatts of energy capacity, with plans for an additional eight modules for a total capacity of 960 megawatts. The facility is expected to be producing power in the mid-2030s and will employ 1,000 workers during construction and at least 100 during operations.
