Description
Description | This project will improve the safety of an existing intersection. The intersection consists of three roads that currently intersect in a large triangular formation. These roads include Route 172 (Fortune Cove Road), Route 12 (Cascumpec Road), and Hudson-Lockerby Road. Work includes realigning Route 172 (Fortune Cove Road) and Route 12 (Cascumpec Road). Currently, these two existing roads meet at an approximate angle of 30 degrees. This project will realign these two roads to a 90-degree intersection. A dedicated left-turn lane will also be added to Route 12 to provide a safe refuge for traffic turning left onto Route 172, and a portion of Route 172 shall be decommissioned as part of this realignment. Work also includes limiting access onto Hudson-Lockerby Road to right turns only off of Route 12 and constructing a cul-de-sac on Hudson-Lockerby Road for vehicles to safely turn around. |
