Description

Description

Opportunity Casey House is a specialty HIV/AIDS hospital with community programs including home nursing care and outreach. Founded in 1988, it was the first freestanding HIV/AIDS facility in Canada. The hospital is being redeveloped in order to provide more efficient, seamless care by consolidating all programs and services under one roof. The project involves renovating an existing heritage property at 571 Jarvis Street in downtown Toronto and incorporating a new building on the same site. Innovations Bird Capital Limited will redevelop the facilities for a guaranteed maximum price of $32 million, including financing, transferring significant risk for cost overruns and late delivery onto the private sector. Results The redevelopment will result in 58,000 square feet of new and renovated space accommodating: 14 private in-patient beds, including two respite beds; Office space for home care programs; Therapy rooms and community space for day health programs; New space for administrative and support services; and Underground parking for 15 vehicles.
