Description

Description

The project Cash Transfers for Food Security and Mitigating the Effects of Russia's War of Aggression on Ukraine Phase 2 has the module objective of stabilizing the food situation for particularly vulnerable households by mitigating the economic consequences of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and empowering women. The module objective is to be achieved by means of cash transfers within national social security systems, by promoting school attendance for girls and by piloting information campaigns on food security. The target group is 1,100,998 households registered in the national social security system (SCT) that were selected according to vulnerability criteria. In fact, most beneficiaries (66%) fall into the category of households headed by women with three or more children. Furthermore, 12% of beneficiaries are women with disabilities. Overall, 78% of beneficiaries are women. The project is to be implemented within the strategic framework of the Special Initiative for the Transformation of Agricultural and Food Systems (SI AGER) and is not part of a development cooperation program, but is embedded in the existing social security structure in Zambia and complements it. The project sponsor is the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) of the World Bank Group.
