Description
Description | It is already clear that Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine is having negative economic consequences that are particularly affecting the most vulnerable population groups in Zimbabwe. The price increases, food shortages and supply bottlenecks are having significant consequences for the nutritional situation of these already affected population groups. Specifically, the project is aimed at pregnant and breastfeeding women, children under 2 years of age, the elderly and people with disabilities. The Cash Transfers for Food Security and Mitigating the Effects of Russia's War of Aggression against Ukraine project has the module objective of stabilizing the nutritional situation for particularly vulnerable households by mitigating the economic consequences of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and empowering women. The module objective is to be achieved by identifying and checking the participants in the target regions who have already been selected through the government program Harmonized Social Cash Transfer (HSCT), paying out transfer payments primarily via a mobile phone-based platform, providing nutrition-related advice via the existing structure of health workers and medical interventions - if necessary - via the health facilities. The project is to be implemented within the strategic framework of the special initiative One World, No Hunger (SEWOH) and is not part of a development cooperation programme, but is embedded in Zimbabwe's existing social security system and complements it. The project sponsor is UNICEF. |
