Description

Description

In order to cushion the serious health and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine in Mozambique, in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the existing social security mechanisms are to be used to support 63,000 families (1st top-up) with cash transfers of around EUR 40 per month per household. The target group consists of urban and suburban population groups whose predominantly informal income-generating activities have been affected by the consequences of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. This has considerable consequences for the nutritional situation, especially of children, women and the elderly. The cash transfers are intended to give these vulnerable households access to sufficient and varied nutrition. The transfer payments are paid out using mobile money via the beneficiaries' mobile phones, thus avoiding direct contact and crowds. In individual cases, households are equipped with the necessary equipment. In addition, information on nutrition, hygiene and health is distributed via mobile phones, radio and loudspeakers, as well as relevant local groups and organizations.
