Castlegar - Millennium Park Phase 3

The project will install a castle play structure and create a half-kilometre walking trail around the Millennium Park. An accessible stabilized gravel path will surround the play area and provide access to an interpretive trail. Feedback from the 2011 Millennium Park Master Plan indicated that residents are dissatisfied with the playground’s location in an unshaded area, which makes it an unpleasant place for children to play in the summer. Developing more recreation options in Millennium Park creates a greater need to maintain the natural values of the site, including the camas meadow ecosystem. The fenced interpretive and accessible trail will help to keep people on designated paths to better protect the sensitive ecosystem which exists in Millennium Park. The project works will include: - site preparation; - excavation for paths and playground; - trail circulation - accessible stabilized aggregate path; - playground castle play structure; - playground rubber safety surface, buried safety surface edger; - habitat restoration; - landscape improvements; - benches and waste receptacle; and, - related works.
