Description
Description | Verizon plans to build small-cell wireless poles on Caswell Beach Road to reduce the load on three larger antennas in the area. The project aims to address network congestion and degraded cellular service during tourist season due to increasing data usage. The Town of Caswell Beach opposes the project citing concerns about appearance, property value, and public safety, but Verizon is willing to consider relocating the poles and changing their appearance. The town is working with NCDOT and Verizon toward a lawful, less intrusive, and safer solution. A Small Cell Wireless Facilities Ordinance draft is recommended with a public hearing scheduled for June 11, 2026. |
