Catalytic Agriculture and Natural Capital Development

1.The proposed technical assistance (TA) aims to support the Government of Mongolia to develop a well-assessed roadmap for how sustainable and competitive agriculture and livestock sector could be promoted and achieved in Mongolia by (i) designing production, processing, and marketing policies for Mongolia that are 'demand-led; (ii) introducing systems and nodes in the supply chain that facilitate the production of consistent, quality raw material and agriculture products that respond to market signals; (iii) improving the implementation and enforcement of government regulations dealing with animal health and sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) standards that are aligned with international agreements or best practices; (iv) introducing incentives for investment in the livestock and meat supply chain that will create modern, sustainable value chains that are transparent and responsive to consumers; (v) linking the commercial export strategy to production policies that will improve exports, mitigate climate change, and improve farmers' and herders' incomes; and (vi) supporting the government prepare for projects in the agriculture, food, and nature, and rural development sector.
