CATCC Mini-Bus Purchase

This project will include the purchase of two (2) new diesel mini-buses for the capital area transit fleet. The mini-buses will be used on lower density routes. The scope of the work involves the purchases of the minibuses to allow flexibility in the transit system providing services in Charlottetown, Stratford, and Cornwall. The buses will feature a low floor chassis with a fold out disability ramp similar to the full size transit buses. The current units are not low floor and they have 3 steps to board with a wheelchair lift at the back of the bus which slows down the time required to load the bus at a stop. The low floor buses will greatly benefit our riders with varying levels of mobility, passengers travelling with strollers, wheelchairs etc., and benefit our system in that loading will be completed much quicker. The project aims at giving the CATCC the ability to move different size buses to different routes to reduce costs as well as provide more accessible servicing options to lower density routes. Pressure can be reduced on the larger buses by using the mini-buses to feed into the larger routes.
