Description

Description

The Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF) supports selected protected areas in the South Caucasus and helps to preserve biological diversity in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. On the basis of a management plan in accordance with international standards, the CNF finances up to 50% of the operating costs of selected protected areas. The creation and updating of management plans and smaller purchases are also financed. By linking the grants to content-related criteria, the CNF helps to improve management standards in the respective protected area sector. The project's direct target group are the residents living near the supported protected areas. The Federal Government has so far supported the CNF via KfW with payments of EUR 27.3 million (BMZ No. 2005 66 349, 2013 65 956, 2014 67 612) into the foundation's capital, which is maintained over the long term, and with contributions of EUR 1.5 million. EUR 68.4 million (BMZ No. 2010 36 573, 2012 36 579, 2021 36 646) into a consumption fund, which will be gradually used up.
