Description	The merchant project was undertaken by Cayman Power Barge Ltd. In two phases. In the first phase, a 35-MW diesel fueled power barge was installed at a cost of US$ 20 million in Mar. 1998. Commercial operation of this first power barge started in Jul. 1998. In the second phase, the first power barge was replaced by a 50-MW unit at a cost of US$ 30.5 million in Sep. 1999. Cayman Power Barge Ltd. is a wholly-owned company of Odyssea Vessels Inc. The company currently has a 5-year power purchase agreement signed with the state-owned Corporacion Dominicana de Electricidad signed in Jul. 2000 (the initial PPA was signed in Mar. 1998 and had a 3.5-year duration; this agreement was then amended in Jul. 2000).
