Description | Duke Energy has been approved to construct two new natural gas units at its Cayuga Station in Vermillion County, Indiana. The project involves replacing the aging coal-fired plant with natural gas-fired units to meet high energy demands. The project is expected to cost around $3 billion and aims to bring hundreds of jobs to the area during construction and operation. The first unit is estimated to be in service around 2029 and the second around 2030. Duke Energy is also studying the feasibility of operating both coal and natural gas units on-site in partnership with Reliable Energy. |
