Description
Description | PPI Resolution No. 60/2019 proposed the qualification of CBTU in the Investment Partnership Program (PPI) and in the National Privatization Program (PND). Decree No. 9,999, of September 3, 2019, carried out qualification in the PPI and inclusion in the PND, as well as deciding to begin the necessary studies, with BNDES authorized to hire them. The main objective of the metro system project in the metropolitan region of Recife/PE is to grant the provision of passenger train services to the private sector. Its scope covers the renovation, updating and modernization of the structure and installed equipment, as well as the operation of services, in a 30-year partnership contract. The objective is for around 335 thousand people who use the transport system to have a better quality of life and less time spent commuting, with greater safety and regularity and maintenance of the same current tariff structure. The metro-rail transport service operated by CBTU in Pernambuco serves the municipalities of Recife, Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Camaragibe and Cabo de Santo Agostinho, comprising 3 lines in operation, 36 stations and 71.5 km in length, of which 37.8 km are electrified and 33.7 km non-electrified. The interventions foreseen in the concession involve investments for improvements and greater operational efficiency, through renovation of stations, purchase of new trains and various technological updates, resulting in improved quality of service provided to the population, more comfort, accessibility, safety and greater regularity on trips. The privatization and concession studies are ongoing and all documents, as well as those necessary to carry out the auction, will be submitted to public consultation, at which point interested parties will be able to send suggestions to the process. |
