Description
Description | The Ceara Urban Development and Water Resource Management Project will support the State's ongoing Urban Development (UD) and Water Resource Management (WRM) Programs. It will consist of four components: (a) institutional development, including technical assistance and training for strengthening financial and administrative management of municipalities and selected State agencies, and for the establishment of State-wide river basin planning and management; (b) urban infrastructure investments (such as paving, drainage, housing and street lighting) as well as water supply and sewerage infrastructure in low-income neighborhoods; (c) WRM infrastructure, including construction of medium-sized water storage reservoirs, conveyance facilities to bring bulk water to urban areas, and rehabilitation of existing storage facilities; and (d) two small pilot programs to support an ongoing program for vocational education of children of low-income families; and to test water markets as a means of allocating scarce water resources. |
