Celebrating the EU through Teaching and Learning

The EUFest project aims to enhance EU literacy and civic engagement by equipping educators with the necessary skills and resources to teach European Union (EU) topics effectively. Despite the EU’s significant impact on daily life, many students and teachers lack structured training on EU institutions, policies, and decision-making processes. This knowledge gap is particularly evident in vocational education and training (VET) institutions, which often struggle to integrate EU-related content into their curricula. To address these challenges, the EUFest project brings together a consortium of four schools and four teacher-training institutions from Portugal, Spain, Croatia, and Turkey. Through transnational cooperation, the project will implement innovative pedagogical strategies, promote cross-border learning, and foster the exchange of best practices in EU education. The project’s objectives will be achieved through two key pillars: Jean Monnet Teacher Training Programme (WP2) – Developing and delivering specialized training for educators on EU topics, including innovative pedagogical methodologies for engaging students in civic and democratic participation. EUFest Plan (WP3) – Implementing interactive learning experiences, such as debates, simulations, and student-led initiatives, to enhance engagement with EU institutions and policies. A robust impact and dissemination strategy (WP4) will ensure the project’s sustainability beyond the funding period. Training materials, digital resources, and methodological guidelines will be openly accessible, enabling replication in other educational contexts across Europe. Aligned with the Jean Monnet Networks in Other Fields of Education and Training work programme, the EUFest directly contributes to the promotion of European values, democratic participation, and inclusive education, reinforcing the EU’s role in shaping informed and active citizens.
