Description | The Illinois and Iowa Departments of Transportation are considering three alternatives for the Stanley Talbot Memorial (Centennial) Bridge: replacing the bridge just west of the current structure; shifting the bridge to 11th Street in Rock Island and Marquette Street in Davenport; or doing nothing and simply maintaining the existing structure. Alternatives such as bridge rehabilitation, reconstruction, and building a twin structure have been dismissed. The project aims to address safety, traffic mobility, and accommodate pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Construction, if a new bridge is chosen, is expected to begin in the early 2030s after the completion of the new Interstate 80 bridge. |
