The project is a regional program with the aim of preserving agrobiodiversity in traditional agricultural production systems of indigenous and farming communities (module objective). The aim is to contribute to achieving the development cooperation program objective in the Central America region, which has been provisionally defined as follows: The protection and sustainable use of natural resources secures livelihoods, increases resilience and contributes to climate protection in Central America. To this end, the co-financing of investments by the target group in the consolidation and expansion of agricultural production systems based on the use of agrobiodiversity in the Central America region is planned. Three components are planned: 1) Improving productivity in traditional agricultural systems; 2) Improving the processing and marketing chain for traditional cash crops; 3) Improving knowledge about agrobiodiversity in traditional agricultural production systems in the region. The recipient and project sponsor ACICAFOC (Asociación Coordinadora Indigena y Campesina de Agroforestería Comunitaria Centroamericana) will implement the project through its own structures or through its member organizations in the countries of the region. Access to the investments will be available to both member organizations of ACICAFOC and other suitable organizations that operate in the prioritized project zones. The target group are the members of these organizations (indigenous people and small farmers).
