Central Dock Sud SA was owned by Servicios Electricos del Gran Buenos Aires (Segba), an Argentine state-owned utility. The facility had an installed capacity of 211 MW in 1992. The company was privatized in two stages. In the first one, a 90% equity stake was sold for $25 million to Argentine Polledo SA in May 1992. The remaining 10% was reserved for Central Dock Suds employees. The transfer took place on October 1992 with no associated price or sale guarantees. In October 1993, British Gas acquired 45% of Central Dock Sud SA from Polledo. In 1996, the company was bought by Inversora Dock Sud SA (63%), Bridas S.A.P.I.C. (18%), and Astra C.A.P.S.A. (9%) for $1.3 million. Inversora Dock Sud SA is owned by Endesa Desarrollo (57.2%) and Astra (42.8%). The new owners plan was to expand the company capacity up to 660-MW. The total planned investment for the consortium was $250 million. In 1998, BP Amoco took over development of the plant from Astra Capsa and Endesa. In 1998, BP Amoco Global Power acquired the new 775 MW gas-fired Dock Sud plant which is due for completion in mid-1999. None None
