The main project objectives are improved quality of life, sustained urban economic growth, and reduced poverty for the population of the Project towns through sustainable water supply and sanitation improvements. The project area will cover eight towns in the five provinces of Binh Thuan, Dak Nong, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, and Phu Yen. The project outcomes are: (i) improved access to safe and sustainable water supply, adequate drainage and wastewater treatment, reduced flooding and ponding, and improved solid waste management systems, (ii) attitudinal change towards environmental hygiene and sanitation, particulary increased awareness on the importance of environmental sanitation, and (iii) sustainable management and delivery capacities of water supply and sanitation service providers. The project will have five major components comprising the following: (i) Part A: Water Supply Development and Expansion (ii) Part B: Drainage and Wastewater Management (iii) Part C: Solid Waste Management (iv) Part D: Community Environmental Sanitation and Awareness (v) Part E: Project Management and Institutional Strengthening.
