Description | Central Saltillo, a subsidiary of EdF, was awarded an "independent power producer" permit to build and operate a gas-fired combined cycle power plant in the industrial zone of Ramos Arizpe in 1999. Central Saltillo has a 25-year power purchase agreement with the national grid. A total investment of US$ 160 million will be directed to building the plant. The IFC has approved a US$ 80 million financing for the project in May 2000: US$ 35 million in direct loan and US$ 45 million in syndication. However, as of 2002, these funds had not been committed. Commercial operation is expected to start in Aug. 2001. In December 2007 Gas Natural SDG SA acquired all of EDF's assets in Mexico for US $1.450 billion. |
